Illumina. A Creative and Art Project Within an Mixed Neighbourhood
By Francine Saillant
English
This article proposes a reflection on the practices that are developing in the field of art and mental health. The author draws on the example of a recent project, Illumina, which was carried out within a whole neighbourhood, and mobilized, amongst other partners, solidarity community organizations that rely on art as an alternative form of relationship with the persons engaging with them. Developed by a team of anthropologists, artists and social workers in an underprivileged and most often stigmatized neighbourhood, Illumina led to a public artistic trail devised by some fifty collective workshops. The article offers both a synthesis of this initiative and a critical reflection on its processes, methods and results.
